Projects Worked, Bid & Won during Samsung Engineering-UU Engagement, Water Sector 

  • ICAD II- WWTP (2007), Abu Dhabi, UAE, DBO (2009-2014, 5 years), Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant, 40,000m3/day expandable to 220,000 m3/day. Successful bid and constructed. Post COD, operated the initial term of 5 years and then handed back to Zones Corporation as per the Clients Requirement.

  • Nakheel /Palm Water WWTP (2008), Dubai, UAE, DBO 5 years, 110,000m3/day. Project Cancelled after LNTP was issued and several months into post mobilization. 
     
  • Muharraq DGS +ILS+ TLS+WWTP (2010-2013), Bahrain, BOT+BOO 20 years, 100,000m3/day expandable to 160,000 m3/day; Project successful bid, negotiated and financed despite the occurring few month after the Arab Spring and disturbances in Bahrain. Project finished on time, despite major change order of re-locating the Intermediate Lifting Station, and has been successfully operating for the past 2 years.
     

Projects Worked on during ACWA Power Engagement, Power Sector

  • Hassyan Clean Coal Phase 1 – IPP at Saih Shuaib, Dubai, UAE for DEWA(2014-2015) : Phase 1 requires 2 Power Units, each 600 MW, thus 1,200 MW. ACWA Power has bid, negotiated & won the Project with HEI who are co-investor and also the EPC contractor. This is project is going through the Financial Close stage.
     
  • HTPS Repowering IPP, Jordan, NEPCO: 485 MW CCGT, with initial 315 MW Open Cycle Power Plant for NEPCO (2013-2014). Discussion started in 2012 with a final offer being made end February 2014. Contract was awarded at the beginning of 2016 to ACWA Power and it will form an important role in improving the system reserve of Jordan.
     
  • GE 3 x 9E GTGs (2014-2015): A project delay has resulted in the surplus of 3 x 9E GE GTGs; This was successfully sold to a new buyer.
     
  • Jazan IGCC IPP, Saudi Aramco (2013-2014): Number of discussions held with Saudi Aramco on the potential development option but subsequently the Jazan project is being executed under multiple EPC contracts by the Saudi Aramco.
     
  • Wind IPP, Egypt (2014): a 120 MW wind farm opportunity. Discussions were held for a number of months to explore participation of ACWA Power as potential strategic partner but in the end the potential partner decided to go alone. 
     
  • Dairut IPP (2013-2014), 2,250 MW Combined cycle running on both gas & alternative fuel: Overseeing role. Bidding process was delayed in 2013, & then again in 2014. ACWA Power was the sole bidder in 2015 and is considered to be the sole successful bidder.
     
  • Kom-Ombo IPP (2013-2014), 10 x20MW Solar PV BOO: PQ of ACWA Power is confirmed.
     
  • Facility D IWPP (2013-2014), 40 to 60 MIGD SWRO and 70 to 90 MIGD Thermal Desalination Plant: Withdrawal of strategic partner at the last moment has failed to prequalify ACWA Power. ACCIONA AGUA has subsequently won the SWRO Scope of Work under Mitsubishi Consortium in 2015
